I always feel like somebody’s watching me …. 22.07.26

How has technology evolved to the point of infringing on our very basic right to privacy. How is it that these practices are allowed and why is it that we as the general populace just continue merrily on as if nothing is wrong?

We know that our televisions have technology to watch us while we watch it and even when we’re not watching it. How is this okay? For some of us who choose to rent our places of stay as opposed to purchasing a home, why is it that we are hearing about hidden cameras being installed inside the property by landlords and property agents without ever disclosing it to the tenants? How is it that society has degraded to such a degree that even our neighbours are monitoring our comings and goings. Why is it that we place our trust in institutions dealing with our private information only to find that there have been data breaches and all our personal information have been compromised. What happens when it becomes common practice to have our identity stolen and properties and investments placed at risk? And when the day comes when we awaken to the knowledge that some of our most trusted friends and family members have actually been observing us and using information pertaining to our lives against us, how do we grapple with these infringements on our daily lives?  I think to myself that twenty or thirty years ago this would have been taboo but its staring us straight in the face today … whether we choose to see it or not.
